Rage virus: Part 4 - Special Weapons And Tactics

A SWAT team has been despatched to deal with some ragers reported in an industrial area in downtown Barberton City. However in the time between them being sent and them arriving things have got well out of hand  . . .

(Above) Here we see the SWAT team as they enter the area.
They are, from left to right:
Kanter, Robert B.
Grigsby, Brent K.
Barksdale, Andrea S. (Sgt.)
Jorgenson, Robert S.

(Above) There were not many ragers in the area and they were quite scattered around.

(Above) Filled with confidence the SWAT team advanced. As Kanter & Grigsby cautiously approached the corner of a building a couple of ragers scented them and raced around the corner. One was shot dead and the other downed, but the firing drew more who appeared from behind the team. Jorgenson, at the rear as fire support, suddenly had his hands full (below).

(Above) The downed rager got up and charged at Kanter & Grigsby, who had now been joined by Barksdale. In what was with hindsight the decisive event of the game this rager braved a storm of fire to dive on Kantor, tearing at him and coughing blood to infect him.

(Above) Jorgenson had no luck firing at the approaching gang of ragers, spraying wildly about in a near panic and was also attacked and infected (below).

(Above) Grigsby clubbed and stamped his infected ex-colleague Kantor to death and with all their immediate opponents down or dead . . .

. . . and a mob including the now-infected Jorgenson closing from behind he and Barksdale made a run for it (above).

(Below) They ran around the building at the top left, Barksdale shooting down in passing a rager who emerged from behind the building, then collided with a rager coming up from bottom left. He dragged down Barksdale and killed her. Grigsby ran again but was overtaken by a rager and killed.

Before the game I'd assumed this would be quite an easy mission for the SWAT team, who had a leader, decent Quality ratings and automatic weapons. As always though with Fear & Faith an unlucky double-fail followed by a lucky arrival of a pack of ragers behind the team meant they were on the back foot. They never regained the initiative and spent all the time reacting to rager moves rather than being able to take the time to concentrate fire or finish off downed ragers. It was all a bit of a disaster and an example of why the ragers appear to be decisively on top in Barberton City.
